What can I expect from my Massage Therapist?

Expect a warm smile and calming demeanor. Your relationship with your therapist is paramount to your success in each and every massage. Your Licensed Massage Therapist will arrive with accompanying music to set the relaxed mood as you guide the way to the desired location for your massage. You can choose to engage in conversation or opt for a silent session. Sometimes people are the last thing you want to deal with when overloaded with stress, so there is never any pressure for unnecessary chitchat. As a precursor to your first time visit, you will be provided the required forms for service to verify your understanding of our policies, procedures, and draping, and submit in writing your desired pressure and massage setting preferences. You may opt to fill those out during the time it takes your therapist to set up the room, or have them printed and filled out ready to hand off upon arrival. If it is a subsequent visit, by now theres a routine, so feel free to keep with it, change it up, maybe one day your in the mood to chat, and another you just want solitude, expect your therapist to read the room.  Communication is the foundation of a great massage, and once we establish a maintenance plan, your in good hands.

Should I schedule a massage before or after a workout?

Clients particularly enjoy the benefits of faster recovery time POST workout. Loosening up the body with a general sports massage would be our best recommendation.

Should I schedule a massage before or after a chiropractic session?

While this topic is highly debated, receiving a massage before a chiropractic session can assist in loosening up soft tissue to help in a chiropractic alignment, and help relax the central nervous system. Receiving massage after a chiropractic session can also help to loosen up soft tissue, after an alignment and promote the relaxation effect. Either way, the choice is a personal preference and many peer reviewed studies can be viewed online for either side.

How soon can I book an appointment?

All appointments must be requested at least 4 hours in advance. You may book appointments online or call 603 - 493 - 2552. How often should I receive a massage?

Massage Therapy treatments will vary from client to client. The recommended succession and frequency of treatment wholly depend on the client, their real-time reaction to applications, and their consistency in maintaining pliability between sessions. For those who use massage as preventative care or maintenance, weekly, biweekly, or monthly Massage Therapy sessions are common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage for post-injury recovery, or to relieve chronic conditions that are interfering with your daily life. Many people incorporate massage therapy at least two to four times a month for optimal therapeutic relief!

Is it safe to use muscle relaxants, alcohol, marijuana, or other substances before getting a massage?

Unless directed by a physician, impairment in any way can affect the reception of pressure, and pain when receiving a massage. It is best to schedule your massage just before your next dose of muscle relaxers, or pain relievers to avoid decreased pain perception and potentially cause harm to the muscle or surrounding soft tissue.

Is it safe for me to get a massage with my medications?
Massage is generally safe for all people, in some form. Pain relievers, anti inflammatory drugs and NSAID's, like naproxen and ibuprofen, in conjunction with massage may cause a lowers perception of pain, low blood pressure,  dizziness, bleeding or bruising. Corticosteroids can cause swelling of the legs, thinning of the skin, tendency to bruise, high blood pressure and a weakened immune response. Long-term use of corticosteroids can cause osteoporosis, which increases risk of bone fractures. If you are taking medications for diabetes, you may also want to start with shorter massage sessions to see how therapy affects you, or the side effects of medication. When scheduling massages, make sure to do so during peak availability of the medications, and make sure you eat prior to the session. Each persons health status is very important to discuss when it comes to catering a massage, for your safety, and the therapist!
